John Rayson graduated from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 1958. While in law school, he was a member of The Tennessee Law Review. He is a member of several honorary societies, including Phi Beta Kappa and The Order of the Coif. Since joining the firm in 1959, he has developed a practice that focuses primarily in the area of employment/labor law in federal and state courts and administrative agencies. Mr. Rayson is listed in the labor and employment law section of The Best Lawyers In America (1997-1998). From 1982-1995 he served as vice-chancellor (legal counsel) for the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee. He is a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation, and the past president of the Knoxville Legal Aid Society (1997-1998).
