After receiving his undergraduate degree from The University of Tennessee in 1944, Ed Rayson served in the United States Navy as an officer during World War II. He then received his law degree from The University of Tennessee in 1948 with honors, and as a member of The Tennessee Law Review and The Order of the Coif. Rayson joined the firm then known as Kramer, McNabb and Greenwood, in 1949.
After becoming partner in 1950, he served as adjunct professor of labor law at The University of Tennessee College of Law for nearly two decades. His practice has focused primarily in the areas of employment labor law and environmental matters in federal and state courts, and administrative agencies. He is a former chairman of the labor law section of the Tennessee Bar Association and has served as arbitrator in numerous labor disputes. He is listed in the labor and employment section in all editions of “The Best Lawyers in America.” He is a fellow of the Knoxville, Tennessee, and American Bar Foundation. In 2001, the Knoxville Bar Association awarded Rayson the “Governor’s Award,” its most esteemed award, given for distinguished service as a lawyer to the community. City View named him as a Top Attorney in the field of Labor & Employment in 2009. |
